The emergence of Jordyn Rousselle '18 on the offensive end has vaulted the EC women's soccer team from a sour start to grabbing first place in the Empire 8 Conference with a 2-0 league mark. The second-year midfielder now leads the Purple and Gold with a career-high three goals and seven points on the year.
In the 2-0 victory over St. John Fisher College on September 23rd, Rousselle ripped a shot from about 25 yards out that sailed high over the outstretched fingertips of the Cardinals' goalkeeper for her first career goal.
The Stillwater, NY, native turned in an outstanding five-point performance, with two goals and one assist, to lead the Soaring Eagles over Utica College, 3-1, on September 26th. Her first goal came in the seventh minute, when she tapped a deep through-ball from Niki Lemper '17 into the bottom left corner. In the 58th minute, Rousselle buried a shot nearly identical to her goal against Fisher to give EC a 3-0 advantage. She also assisted on the game-winning goal scored by Sara Kazerouni '18 in the 12 minute.
Rousselle and the EC women's soccer team will look to extend their two-game win streak when they travel to Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday, October 3rd at 3:00 p.m. in Hoboken, NJ.
