Alli Gilbert '16 scored two game-winning goals to help the EC field hockey team win both of its contests last week. By defeating Keystone College, 2-1, on September 29th and Oswego State, 3-0, on October 3rd, the Purple and Gold extended their win streak to three games, the longest since the 2002 season.
With less than two minutes remaining before halftime against Keystone, Gilbert fired a shot from approximately eight yards out that found the far right corner of the cage, giving EC a 1-0 lead. She also assisted on a goal from Megan Brain ’18 in the 51st minute. In the victory over the Lakers, the Machias, NY, native received a penalty corner from Sarah McCaffery ’18 and she deposited it in the lower right corner to put Elmira up, 1-0, in the 11th  minute.
With the three goals and one assist on the week, Gilbert extended her point streak to seven straight games. She leads the Soaring Eagles in every offensive category on the season. She is also tied for sixth in the Empire 8 in points (14) and tied for second in assists (six). Gilbert’s six assists have her just two shy of tying the program’s single-season record.
Gilbert and the EC field hockey team will conclude its four-game road trip with a stop at Ithaca College to face the Bombers in E8 action on Saturday, October 10th at 1:00 p.m.
