In the final game of the 2015 season, Niki Lemper '17 recorded six points in the best performance of her career, as the Soaring Eagles downed the Alfred University Saxons, 5-1, on Saturday. She scored the equalizer on a penalty kick in the 37th minute, knotting the game at 1-1. Lemper then ripped a shot from outside the box high over the Alfred goalkeeper in the 51st minute for the game-winning goal, her second of the season.
The junior from Townsend, DE, continued to fuel the Elmira offense to one of its best offensive outings in the last decade with assists on EC's third and fifth goals. She set up Jordyn Rousselle '18 in the left side of the box in the 53rd minute, and in the final moments of the game, Lemper took a corner entry from Allie Olsen '16 and crossed it toCourtney Burgazli '16 in front of the net to reach the final score.
Lemper's multi-goal performance was the first of her career, becoming the first Soaring Eagle with at least six points in a single game since Mollie Hamilton '15 finished with seven against Lycoming in the 2013 season opener. Her six points are tied for second-highest single game total since 2004. Lemper is also the first EC player in over 14 seasons to finish with two goals and two assists in a game.
On the season, Lemper was one of three Soaring Eagles to start all 16 games. She led the team in total shots (32) and was tied for the team lead with 19 shots on target. Lemper was second in points with nine, having scored three goals and a team-high three assists.
