Danielle Cleary '18 showed no signs of stopping her record scoring pace anytime soon. She tallied back-to-back games with at least 20 points, and averaged 24.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals in two games last week against Clarkson University and Pennsylvania College of Technology.
The second-year guard began the week with her second consecutive 29-point performance at home against Clarkson on December 1st, making a season-high nine field goals, including three triples. Cleary also pulled down 10 boards for her third double-double of the season, while tying her career high with four steals.
In the 82-47 drubbing of Penn College, Cleary led all scorers with 20 points. In her most efficient game of the season, she finished 8-for-17 from the field for a season-high 47.1 field-goal percentage. She also filled out the box score with eight rebounds, two steals and one assist.
The Rochester, NY, native has now scored 20-plus points in five straight games. She leads the Empire 8 Conference and ranks 11th in the nation in points per game (22.0). Cleary, the reigning E8 Rookie of the Year, is also tops in the conference in made free throws (44), second in free-throw percentage (86.3 percent) and rebounds per game (9.5), fourth in three-pointers per game (2.0), and sixth in steals per game (1.8).
The EC women continue their current three-game road trip with a 5:30 p.m. contest at SUNY Cortland on Wednesday, December 9th. On Saturday, December 12th, the Soaring Eagles will take on SUNY Potsdam on the road at 2:00 p.m.
