Kelcey Crawford '18 helped the second-ranked EC women's ice hockey team ring in the New Year with an outstanding performance between the pipes against Williams College on January 2nd.The 2-1 win over the Ephs extended the Soaring Eagles' win streak to 10 consecutive games, the fourth-longest active unbeaten streak in NCAA Division III women's ice hockey.
The Purcellville, VA, native recorded season highs with 23 saves and a .938 save percentage while limiting the Ephs to a single goal. Her 23 saves are also tied for the team's single-game high in the 2015-16 season. The second-year netminder made 12 of her saves in the third period to preserve the one-goal lead. Her biggest stop came on a third-period penalty shot. as Crawford denied Williams' Natalie Bernstein one-on-one with a glove-side save.
With the win, Crawford improved her record to 6-1-0 on the season. The second-year netminder ranks 10th in Division III with a 1.23 goals-against average and is tied for 11th with an .857 win percentage. She's also fourth in the ECAC West with a .938 save percentage.
No. 2 Elmira continues its current five-game homestand when the Soaring Eagles host Norwich University at the Murray Athletic Center Ice Arena on Saturday, January 9th, at 3:00 p.m.
