Blake O'Neill' 19 earned three assists last week, including a career-high two helpers in Saturday's 4-1 win over Curry College at the Vineyard Classic in Martha's Vineyard, MA.
In the 2-2 tie against Buffalo State on Tuesday, January 12th, O'Neill was credited with the lone assist on the goal fromCarter Shinkaruk '16 just 1:37 into the second period, which tied the game at 1-1. On Saturday, the first-year defenseman from Fort Myers, FL, earned the primary assist on the eventual game-winner, tallied on the power play byBrian Depp '16 in the second period. With only 20 seconds remaining in the period, he also recorded the primary assist on Shinkaruk's score, which gave the Purple and Gold a comfortable 3-0 cushion.
Through the first 13 games of his rookie campaign, O'Neill has scored a pair of goals and added six assists for eight points. He leads EC and is tied for fifth in the ECAC West in defenseman scoring, while leading all freshman defenders in points in the conference.
The Elmira College men's ice hockey team will begin a four-game conference road swing with a pair of games against Manhattanville College on Friday, January 22nd, and Saturday, January 23rd. Opening faceoff for both games is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
