McKenna Farole '16 entered the series against ECAC West foe Neumann University without a point in 11 games played on the season, but would come up big against the Knights. The senior defender earned four points in the weekend series, including her first career goal in Sunday's 8-0 blowout victory.
In the opening game of the series on Saturday, Farole earned her first point of the year by assisting Meg Lahey '19 on the first-year defender's first career goal, scored at 14:12 in the second period. On Sunday, the Irvine, CA, native gave EC a 1-0 lead at 13:05 in the first period. Her initial slap shot sailed just wide of the net, but caromed off the boards, back into the crease and off the skate of Neumann netminder Julia Fair into the goal. Farole helped double the lead three minutes later, assisting on a shorthanded goal from Louisa Lippiatt Durnell '18. She capped off her career day by earning an assist on EC's seventh goal, netted by Anna Tude '17 in the third period.
Farole is now two points shy of her career high, set last season with six assists. She now has one goal and 12 assists in her EC career, all scored inside ECAC West play. Farole's big weekend now has her inside the top-20 in the conference in defenseman scoring.
The No.2-ranked Soaring Eagles will hit the road this weekend for a two-game set against Chatham University on Friday, January 22nd, at 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 23rd at 3:00 p.m.
