John Mullane '16 powered the Soaring Eagles to victory over Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, on Saturday by a final score of 75-70. The 6-foot-5 forward scored a career-high 17 points in the win, EC's second Empire 8 Conference victory of the season. He was extremely efficient from the floor, shooting 8-for-12, marking a new career high for made field goals in a game. Mullane also had four rebounds, one assist and one block, and made his only free throw to complete an and-one in the first half.
On the season, the Norfolk, MA, native has started all 19 games for Elmira. He's averaging 7.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. From the field, Mullane is shooting 50.0-percent (52-for-104). He also leads the team in blocks with seven.
The Elmira College men's basketball team will try for their third win in four games when the Soaring Eagles host Utica College on Friday, February 5th, at 6:00 p.m. at Speidel Gymum. The E8 contest is the first of three straight home games for EC.
