Erik Griffin '16, a reigning AVCA Second-Team All-American, paced the Purple and Gold with 56 kills and 4.00 kills per set. He recorded a .714 attack percentage, his second-highest mark of the season, against Penn State-Behrend with 11 kills and only one error in 14 total attempts. He also served a season-high five aces against the Lions.
The Victor, NY, native followed that up with 11 kills against Wells and 10 against Rivier, before turning in his second double-double performance of the year with 24 kills and 10 digs against the seventh-ranked Mustangs. The five-set victory against Stevenson was EC's third over a nationally-ranked opponent this season.
Griffin leads the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) with a tremendous 4.51 kills per set, nearly a full kill better than second place. Although he hasn't played enough sets to qualify for the NCAA statistical leaderboard, his kills-per-set average would rank nearly a half-kill higher than the current national leader.
The No. 11 Soaring Eagles will look to extend their eight-match win streak this weekend against Bard College and Stevens Institute of Technology at a UVC Tri-Match, hosted by the Raptors in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. EC kicks off the weekend against Bard on Saturday, March 5th, at 11:00 a.m.
