Moorea Spoljaric '16 solidified her place as one of the best women's lacrosse players in Elmira College history, becoming the program's all-time leader in goals scored. In the two-game week, she registered a combined 13 points on 10 goals and three assists, while she also collected 10 draw controls, eight ground balls, and two caused turnovers.
The Saugerties, NY, native tied the record with a five-goal outing against Nazareth College on April 22nd. She also won six draw controls, hauled in five ground balls and caused one turnover against the Golden Flyers. On Sunday against Alfred University, Spoljaric claimed sole possession of first place all-time with another five-goal performance. She also tied her season best with two helpers in the 13-7 victory over the Saxons.
Not only did Spoljaric claim EC's goal-scoring record, but her 13-point week put her in prime position to etch her name atop several other categories. With 62 points and 53 goals on the season, she needs three more in each category to tie the single-season program records. In her career, the fourth-year standout became just the second player in Elmira history to surpass the 200-point plateau, and with 202 points, she needs only eight more to equal the all-time record, held by Katya Outwater '07 (210).
The EC women cap off the 2016 regular season with three games in the next six days, beginning with a 5:00 p.m. contest against Hartwick College at Campus Field on Monday, April 25th.
