Savannah Terry '21 helped the Soaring Eagles secure victories in two of their three matches last week, including a three-set sweep of Hartwick in Elmira's 2019 Empire 8 Conference opener. The junior middle blocker paced the team in multiple statistical categories, including attacking percentage (.298), aces (5), and total blocks (8).
The Owego, New York, finished EC's win against Hartwick with eight kills, five of which came in a thrilling 29-27 second-set win. Additionally, she posted two aces, two digs and a pair of blocks, as the Soaring Eagles won their conference opener for the first time since 2013. On Saturday, Terry did a little bit of everything to help EC take down SUNY Canton in four sets. She produced seven kills, a season-high five blocks, three digs, two aces and one assist against the Roos.
Terry and the Soaring Eagles will return to Speidel Gymnasium this weekend for a pair of E8 matches against Houghton on Friday, September 27, and Alfred on Saturday, September 28. The bout with the Highlanders, which will serve as the team's Gold Rush game, is set for a 6:00 p.m. start.
