On the grassy pitch at Campus Field, Jake Meyer '21 extended his point streak to four consecutive games, while playing a key role in each of the EC men's soccer team's victories last week. The junior third-year transfer from Newark, Delaware, recorded a team-leading three points with one goal and one assist, while organizing Elmira's attack from his center mid position.
On Tuesday, October 8, Meyer tallied his first game-winning goal of the season, leading the Purple and Gold to a 2-0 win over Wells. He was awarded a free kick from just outside the box in the 23rd minute and placed the ball perfectly inside the left post to give Elmira a lead it never relinquished. In Saturday's 1-0 Empire 8 win against Alfred, Meyer was credited with an assist, as his corner kick was placed perfectly for Tommaso Garavaglia '23 to head into the net in the 37th minute.
With points in each of his last four contests, Meyer has climbed into fourth on the team in points (7). Additionally, he is eighth in the Empire 8 and second on the team with three assists.
Meyer and the EC men's soccer team will hit the road on Wednesday, October 16, for a non-conference bout against Pennsylvania College of Technology. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
