A native of New Woodstock, New York, Janie Kempf '21 helped the Soaring Eagles split a pair of non-conference games last week. From her midfield position, the third-year talent logged a season-high five points in EC's 3-1 victory on the road against Oswego State on Wednesday, September 4. She had a hand in all three goals, as she scored a pair in the 12th and 38th minutes, while assisting on an Emily Selbert '20 tally in the 27th minute.
Kempf's performance against Oswego vaulted her onto the Empire 8 Conference's statistical leaderboard, as she ranks among the top 10 in the E8 in points (6), goals (2), and assists (2). In addition, the win over the Lakers helped the Soaring Eagles start the season 2-0 for just the second time in program history.
The Elmira field hockey team will continue its current three-game homestand on Wednesday, September 11, when the Soaring Eagles welcome Wells College to the Murray Athletic Center. The contest is set for a 4:00 p.m. start.
