Xavier Townsend '23 was tremendous for the EC men's soccer team in his first two collegiate starts. The rookie went 1-1-0 with a 1.00 goals-against average, an .867 save percentage and 13 saves while playing all 180 minutes. In his first start against the defending Colonial State Athletic Conference (CSAC) champions from Keystone, the native Australian logged four saves. Then on Saturday at D'Youville, he posted a clean sheet by stopping all nine shots on goal, guiding Elmira to a 1-0 victory.
The freshman currently leads EC's goalkeeping corps in wins (2), goals-against average (0.76), and save percentage (.882) in a trio of appearances this fall.
The Soaring Eagles will return to Campus Field on Wednesday, September 18, when they host the Panthers of Pitt-Bradford at 4:00 p.m.
