Two weeks ago, Jordan Hodlofski '17, a defenseman by trade, made his collegiate debut as a goalkeeper for Elmira. Since then, the fourth-year Soaring Eagle has made three consecutive starts in net and has performed exceedingly well, including a career outing against Empire 8 Conference rival, Nazareth College.
On Sunday against the Golden Flyers, Hodlofski made a career-high eight saves, double his previous single-game high, while blanking Naz en route to a 0-0 double-overtime draw. His last of three second-half stops came with under a minute left in regulation, forcing the extra sessions. He needed two more saves in the first overtime period and one in the second to record his first career clean sheet.
The Troy, Pennsylvania, native added to his totals from the Nazareth outing with a four-save performance in a non-conference bout with Medaille College on Tuesday, October 18th. Hodlofski held the Mavericks scoreless for over 73 minutes, before Medaille struck for the lone goal of the contest on a header off of a high crossing pass.
In his last three games, all starts, Hodlofski has accumulated a paltry 0.62 goals-against average with an .882 save percentage and 15 stops. The senior will look to pick up his first victory the in final home game of his EC career, when the Soaring Eagles host King's College (Pa.) at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26th, in the 2016 home finale on Campus Field.
