Anthony Parrucci '20 netted the biggest goal of his young career on Saturday night at the Murray Athletic Center against ECAC West foe, Nazareth College. After dropping an overtime bout on the road against Utica College the previous night, the first-year forward tallied his second career goal to lift the Soaring Eagles to a 2-1 overtime victory over the Golden Flyers.
The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native needed only 46 seconds in the extra session to produce the first game-winning goal of his collegiate career. The play started when Noah Anderson '19 lofted the puck high into the offensive zone. Mitch Atkins '19 was able to beat a Naz defender to it in the slot and his first touch pushed the puck towards the right corner to Tyler Theodoulou '18. The junior then fired a pass back across the front of the net to Parrucci, who ended up with a wide-open look at the left side of the net and tickled the twine for Elmira's first overtime victory of the season.
A 6-foot-1-inch rookie, Parrucci is one of only five players to skate in all 21 games for the Soaring Eagles and has recorded two goals with one assist for three points in his debut season. He'll look to guide EC to a much-needed conference win over Neumann University on home ice on Friday, February 10th, at 7:00 p.m.
