A two-time Empire 8 All-Conference Honorable Mention utility player, Conor Bawiec '18 toed the rubber for the first time in 2017 against the Scarlet Raptors and delivered one of the finest outings of his career. The junior from Lebanon, Pennsylvania, lasted all nine innings, marking the first complete game thrown by an E8 pitcher in 2017 and the fifth of his collegiate career. He limited Rutgers-Camden to a lone run on seven hits and fanned 10 – a new program single-game record – without issuing a walk.
After surrendering a run to the Scarlet Raptors in the second inning, the 6-foot-4-inch righty carved through the Rutgers-Camden lineup and retired the side in order in the third, fifth, seventh, and ninth innings. He capped off the victory in style by striking out all three batters in the ninth to secure EC's first win of the young season.
Bawiec and the Soaring Eagles have nearly two weeks off, before Elmira returns to action with a doubleheader against The City College of New York on Saturday, March 11th, beginning at 12:00 p.m.
