Jeremy Best '19 played an instrumental role in EC's straight-set victory on the road against Keuka College on March 1. Thanks in part to Best's precision sets, the Elmira offense produced its fourth-highest attack percentage of the season (.287), while its 41 kills against the Wolves are the most in a three-set match in 2017.
In all, the sophomore from Wexford, Pennsylvania, produced 32 assists, tied for the most in his career in a three-set match, along with three kills and three blocks. In the tightly-contested third set, which the Soaring Eagles won 27-25, Best posted 12 of his assists. That allowed the Purple and Gold to attack with match highs in both percentage (.367) and kills (18) to secure the victory.
On the season, Best has amassed 709 assists, already a career high for the second-year setter. He ranks among the top-10 in the United Volleyball Conference (UVC) in assists per set with 8.86, and has handed out double-digit assists in every match of the season.
Best and the Soaring Eagles will look to extend their win streak to three in a row next time out on Wednesday, March 8, when Elmira returns to UVC play to take on Nazareth College. The conference contest in Rochester, New York, will begin at 7:00 p.m.
