The effort of Henry Cuffee '19 in the lone game of the holiday break for the Elmira men was a commendable one, as the Soaring Eagles made the short trip down the Southern Tier Expressway to face Division I Binghamton University. Although EC dropped its non-conference finale to the Bearcats, Cuffee reached double figures for the eighth time this season with a team-leading 17 points. He also grabbed a game-high-tying seven rebounds to go along with one block.
The Bel Air, Maryland, native scored Elmira's first four points, but picked up 10 of his 17 in the second half. Cuffee pieced together a mini run for EC in the second half by netting six consecutive points in a span of 1:33, which began with a lay-up at the 7:40 mark.
Heading into the conference portion of the schedule, Cuffee ranks among the E8 leaders in several statistical categories. He's third in the league in points (17.9), first in rebounds (9.2), second in field-goal percentage (59.5) and third in blocks per game (1.7).
Cuffee and the Soaring Eagles will return to the hardwood when they open conference play at Stevens on Tuesday, January 2. The opening tip against the Ducks is slated for 5:00 p.m.
