The effort put forth by Lindsey Heaton '19 on the hardwood helped the EC women's basketball team win a pair of Empire 8 Conference contests, as the Soaring Eagles played a trio of league games in a five-day stretch last week. The junior finished season on the team with a 13.3 points-per-game average, while hauling in 7.0 rebounds and dishing out 4.3 assists per contest. She also blocked two shots and led the Soaring Eagles with a combined seven steals in the three games.

The New Milford, Connecticut, native netted 16 points last Tuesday when the Purple and Gold knocked off Nazareth by a 66-62 score at Speidel Gymnasium. Eight of her points came from the free-throw line, including a pair of foul shots in the final seconds to ice the game. She finished just one rebound shy of a double-double with nine boards, and one of her four assists was recorded on the game-winning bucket scored by Lauren Franklin '20 with 5.8 seconds remaining. In Thursday's loss versus Hartwick, Heaton made a season-high eight field goals en route to a 17-point performance, to go along with six rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Her week ended with seven points, six rebounds, five assists, two steals and one block in a 69-53 road win at Alfred on Saturday afternoon.

On the season, Heaton has started all 18 games and averages 9.7 points, 5.3 boards, 4.4 assists and 1.7 steals per contest. She ranks third in the E8 in assists per game and fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.1). With 263 career dimes, she sits in third-place all-time in Elmira history, needing just 26 more to equal Kourtney Troutman '08 (289) for second place.

Heaton and the Soaring Eagles will return to action on Saturday, February 3, after a week-long hiatus. EC will host the Gators of Sage in an Empire 8 rematch on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. in a special contest held at the Murray Athletic Center, as part of the 36th Annual Elmira College Athletic Alumni Weekend.
