Anthony Parrucci '20 helped the Soaring Eagles collect three important points in the United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) standings, as the EC men look to clinch a berth in the conference tournament. At the 36th Annual Elmira College Athletics Alumni Weekend, the sophomore finished tied for the team lead with two points (1g-1a) in a 4-1 win over Neumann University and a 2-2 overtime draw against Stevenson University on home ice.
Against the Knights on Friday night, the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, product scored the game-winning goal early in the second period, as he deflected a hard slap shot from classmateÂ
Matthew Cuce '20 past Neumann goalie Matt Gibney. The goal, which was scored on the power play, marked the fifth of his sophomore campaign and his first game-winner of the season. The following night at the Murray Athletic Center, Parrucci picked up an assist on the game-tying goal, as the Soaring Eagles finished in a 2-2 deadlock with the conference-leading Mustangs.
The assist against Stevenson extended Parrucci's point streak to three consecutive games, tied for his longest such streak of the season. The 6-foot-1-inch forward has amassed six of his season's 14 points in the past five games, a stretch in which Elmira has gone 4-0-1.
Parrucci and the Soaring Eagles will finish the 2017-18 regular season on the road following a nearly two-week break from action. On Friday, February 16, the EC men will play their penultimate game at Chatham University in Parrucci's hometown of Pittsburgh at 7:00 p.m.
