Rachel Grampp '18, who was also named EC Athlete of the Week on February 19 as part of the 2018 NCAA Tournament runner-up women's ice hockey team, receives today's honor after having an outstanding week with the women's lacrosse team. Grampp paced all players with seven points (6g-1a) in clashes against Cazenovia College and Nazareth College. Â
The product of Williamsville, New York, had a career day in EC's 15-9 triumph over the Wildcats on April 3, as she scored a whopping five goals and tallied one assist. The five goals were more than double Grampp's previous single-game career-high (2) and doubled his season total from five to 10 this year. The fourth-year Soaring Eagle capped off a brilliant week with another goal against the tough Golden Flyers in road E8 action on Saturday.
In just five games played this year, Grampp has already surpassed her previous career-high goal total with 10, which is fifth on the team. The midfielder's 14 points are just three shy of topping her career-best point total of 16 that she recorded as a junior. Grampp has scored a goal in all five games that she has played this year, which includes multiple goals in both of EC's victories.
The Elmira women will have a week off before traveling to the Granite State for a pair of non-league tilts. The first of the two contests will take place on Saturday, April 14, when the Soaring Eagles challenge the Pilgrims of New England College in Henniker, New Hampshire, at 1:00 p.m.
