Patrick Tracey '18 went an impressive 4-2 last week, with both losses coming against the No. 39-ranked Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology. The Bardonia, New York, native kicked off play with an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles and a 6-4, 6-2 victory in No. 1 singles against Nazareth on Wednesday, April 18. Then against Alfred University on Friday, Tracey and Stephen Gervase '20 again teamed up to defeat the Saxons' top doubles duo, 8-6. His victory at No. 1 singles later in the bout was especially important, as it tied him with Gabe Cortes '11 for Elmira's all-time singles win record (37).
Tracey has had an outstanding senior season after being promoted to the No. 1 singles and doubles slot. In doubles play, Tracey and Gervase have played every match together and are a shade over .500 on the year (5-4). The senior netter has been even better in singles action with an 8-1 overall record and a 5-1 mark against Empire 8 Conference opponents.
The Elmira men return to the court on Tuesday, April 24, when they challenge the Highlanders of Houghton College. The road tilt is slated to start at 4:00 p.m. in Houghton, New York.
