Owen Rose '22, a freshman from Sherrill, New York, wasted little time before making his mark on the EC men's cross country program. In the first race of his collegiate career at the Houghton College Short Course Twilight Invitational, a nighttime event hosted by the Highlanders at the Field of Dreams Course on Friday, the rookie runner set a new program record for the fastest 5-kilometer race. Rose, who finished 47th out of 93 participants, completed the course in 17:54.00, 18.30 seconds faster than the previous record time.
The 2018 cross country season for the Elmira men continues on Saturday, September 8, at the Alfred University Short Meet. The race is a preview of this year's Empire 8 Conference Championships, which will be hosted by the Saxons in late October.
