Both Ariella Haas '22 and fellow Elmira College Athlete of the Week Connor Powell '20 excelled on the ice on Friday night in United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) victories over King's College (Pa.), as the former helped the nationally-ranked women's ice hockey team defeat the Monarchs at the Murray Athletic Center by a 12-1 score and the latter led the EC men to an 11-1 win on the road.
A first-year forward from Albany, New York, Haas was equally as impressive on the ice for the No. 1/1-ranked women's ice hockey team in its lone contest, a 12-1 conference victory against King's. The freshman standout led all scorers in the win with three goals, her fourth, fifth and sixth of the 2018-19 campaign. Haas also handed out one assist for a season-high four points (3g-1a). With seven shots on goal in the game, she helped the Purple and Gold establish a new program record for shots, as EC registered a whopping 89 shots on goal.
Haas and the No.1/1 women's ice hockey team are scheduled to face William Smith College in a home-and-home series that opens at the MAC on Saturday, January 26, at 3:00 p.m.
