A senior on the EC men's volleyball team, Ryan McDonough '19 paced the offensive attack for the Soaring Eagles, while reaching a career milestone along the way. In three matches, he posted team highs in kills (46) and kills per set (3.83), in addition to 22 digs, three aces and three blocks.Â
In a tough United Volleyball Conference (UVC) matchup against St. John Fisher on Wednesday, February 27, McDonough recorded a team-best 19 kills with a .429 hitting percentage. With his sixth kill of the night, the Lindenhurst, New York, native became just the fourth player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills. The senior followed up his historic performance with a combined 27 kills in a pair of matches on Saturday against Ramapo and No. 12 Lancaster Bible, increasing his career total to 1,040, fourth-most all-time.
On the UVC leaderboard, McDonough ranks sixth on the season with 3.02 kills per set and leads the Purple and Gold with 246 total kills.
McDonough and the EC men's volleyball team will return to Speidel Gymnasium for a single match against Mount St. Joseph on Friday, March 8. The non-conference match versus the Lions is set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
