Since the end of the women's ice hockey season, Stephanie Martin '22 has been a terror on the turf for the EC women's lacrosse team. However, instead of stopping goals, she's scoring them at a high rate for the Purple and Gold.
In three games last week, the rookie midfielder from Yorktown, Virginia, produced a team-high 11 points on eight goals and three assists. In addition, she won 10 draw controls, caused six turnovers and collected five ground balls. Her best outing came in an 18-9 Empire 8 Conference victory against The Sage Colleges on Saturday, March 30, as Martin posted career highs in points (8), goals (5), assists (3), draw controls (6) and caused turnovers (4). On Sunday afternoon against Cazenovia, Martin tallied multiple goals for the third time this year, netting a pair to go along with two ground balls, two draw controls, and two caused turnovers.
In only seven games, Martin has climbed into the team lead in points (15), and ranks second in goals (12) and draw controls (16).
Martin and the Elmira women's lacrosse team will return to action when they travel to Aurora, New York, for a non-conference matchup against Wells College on Tuesday, April 2, at 6:00 p.m.
