Ryan McDonough '19 recorded the final chapter of his remarkable collegiate career on Saturday in the last matches of the regular season against Messiah and Misericordia. In two matches, the senior outside hitter amassed 27 kills, 15 digs, three blocks, and one service ace.
In the regular-season finale, a five-set victory over the host Cougars of Misericordia, the Lindenhurst, New York, native floored a career-high 23 kills, while hitting at a rate of .271. In addition to his outstanding numbers on offense, McDonough picked up his fourth double-double of the season with a team-high-tying 10 digs and two blocks.
For the season, the fourth-year outside hitter became just the third player in program history to eclipse 400 kills, as McDonough concluded his senior campaign with a career-high and United Volleyball Conference (UVC)-leading 403 kills. Across his four years with the Soaring Eagles, he floored 1,197 kills, third-most in program history.
McDonough, an Empire 8 All-Conference Second Teamer and All-UVC Honorable Mention selection a year ago, will await the announcement of the annual award winners from both later this week.
