Emma MacDowell '23, a first-year runner from Rushville, New York, paced the Soaring Eagles for a fifth consecutive race on Saturday at the Cross Country Only Conference (CCOC) Championships. The standout rookie placed 22nd out of 68 runners and logged her second-fastest six-kilometer time of the season at 27:58.2 despite a muddy course at Seneca Lake State Park in Geneva, New York.
Led by MacDowell, the EC women's cross country team set a program record, as the Soaring Eagles earned their best all-time finish at the CCOC Championships. EC secured a podium finish, taking third place overall after edging fourth-place Morrisville State by a mere five points.
On Saturday, November 2, MacDowell and the Soaring Eagles will return to action at the 2019 Empire 8 Conference Championships, hosted by St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, New York. The women's 6K race is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start.
