Adam Nichols '20 helped the EC men's soccer team pick up a crucial point against Empire 8 Conference rival St. John Fisher on Saturday, as the two sides played to a 1-1 double-overtime draw at Campus Field. That helped the Soaring Eagles clinch a berth into the E8 Championships for the first time since the 2015 campaign.
The fourth-year striker, who was honored pregame during a Class of 2020 Recognition ceremony, tallied Elmira's lone goal in the match in the 18th minute. For the Candor, New York, native, it marked his team-leading eighth goal of the season, third-most in the Empire 8. It also upped his team-high point total to 21, the most by a Soaring Eagle since 2015.
With one week remaining in the regular season, Nichols and the Soaring Eagles will host King's (Pa.) on Monday, October 28, at 3:30 p.m., before heading to Nazareth in a game that could determine Elmira's seeding in the playoffs on Saturday, November 2, at 3:00 p.m.
