In the final weekend of the regular season, Sam Sprague '22 broke out with three of the finest matches of her EC career at the SUNY Oneonta Dig Pink Invitational. The second-year right-side hitter attacked at a team-leading .311 percentage with 26 kills to go along with eight digs and five blocks, while leading the Soaring Eagles to wins over Cazenovia and Baruch.
Against the hosts from SUNY Oneonta on Friday evening, Sprague recorded a season-high .385 attack percentage with seven kills on 13 attempts and just two errors. On Saturday, she logged a career-high 10 kills with five digs and a block in a four-set victory over Cazenovia. The sophomore's stellar weekend ended with nine kills, a .350 attack percentage, and a pair of blocks in an exciting five-set win over the Bearcats from Baruch.
In her second go-round with the Purple and Gold, Sprague posted career-bests across the board. In 17 matches, the Syracuse, New York, native has accumulated 73 kills with 30 digs, eight total blocks and two aces.
Sprague and the EC women's volleyball team will look to make some noise in the Empire 8 Conference Championships, beginning in the semifinal round against top-seeded St. John Fisher on Friday, November 8. The match is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m. inside Fisher's Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium.
