For the men's ice hockey team, Matthew Cuce '20 racked up a team-leading five points (1g-4a) in a 1-1 weekend on the road against a pair of UCHC opponents. Additionally, the senior from Fort Myers, Florida, became the 52nd skater to join Elmira's storied 100-point club.
On Friday, Cuce logged a season-high three points with one goal and two helpers, as the Purple and Gold took down King's on its home ice by a 7-1 final score. The fourth-year forward picked up a point on three of EC's first four goals, assisting on the first pair before putting the Soaring Eagles up by four with a power-play goal. His second assist of the contest was a historic one, as it went down as the 100th point of his career. In a 5-3 setback at Wilkes on Saturday, Cuce handed out two more assists, which gave the Soaring Eagles an early two-goal lead in the first period.
Through four games, Cuce leads all Soaring Eagles and is tied for third in the UCHC in points (6), tied for second in assists (4), and ranks among the top-10 in goals (2), power-play goals (1) and power-play points (3).
Cuce and the Elmira men are home again this weekend, as they host Neumann on Friday, November 15, and Manhattanville on Saturday, November 16. Both games during the 38th Annual Athletics Alumni Weekend begin at 7:00 p.m.
