Palmer continued her impressive rookie season as she had three strong games for the Softball team in the Empire 8 Tournament. In a 2-0 loss in 12 innings against Fisher the freshman was one of the bright spots offensively as she went 2-for-5 with a pair of leadoff triples. The Verona, NY native came up huge in a 3-2 victory in 10 innings as she blasted a two-run homer in the sixth inning to tie the game at 2-2. Palmer rounded out the week with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate Saturday in a loss to Utica.
The freshman has had an impressive rookie season which earned her a spot on the Empire 8 Honorable Mention team. She has compiled a .411 batting average, .417 on-base percentage and .670 slugging percentage. Palmer has 46 hits, 22 runs, 23 RBI’s, nine doubles, four triples, four home runs, and 75 total bases. She ranks either first or second on the team in all of those categories. The Softball team has earned the two seed in the Eastern College Athletic Conference playoffs and will travel to take on Brooklyn College on Wednesday.Â
