Ithaca, NY – The Elmira College Women's Lacrosse team struggled to score against a strong Ithaca squad as it fell, 18-4, Friday at Higgins Stadium. The win improves the No. 13 Bombers to 9-4 overall and 5-0 in Empire 8 play, while the loss drops the Soaring Eagles to 6-7 and 2-3.
The hosts scored the first five goals of the contest with two coming from Allison Runyon. Elmira got on the board 5:38 in when
Ashton Hogan '15 tallied her 17th goal of the season. The Bombers responded with four more unanswered goals before
Bridget Keefe '14 recorded her second goal of the year. Two more first half Ithaca goals gave the Bombers an 11-2 lead at intermission.
Ithaca continued to dominate in the second half tallying seven of the nine goals.

Rory Donahue '14, and then
Keefe fed
Deirdre McCluskey '16 for Elmira's other score.
Mary Kate Gellerman '13 started in net for Elmira making eight saves in the first half.
LeAnna Presler '14 replaced her stopping three shots. Jess Worthman picked up the win for the Bombers making two saves, while Brittany Romano also stopped two shots in relief.
Gellerman paced EC with a game-high five ground balls.
Rebecca Matturro '14 had a strong game from her defensive position picking up three ground balls, three draw controls and causing two turnovers. Ithaca held advantages in shots on goal (29-8), ground balls (32-26) and draw controls (14-9).
