Box Score

Ithaca, NY -- The Elmira College women's lacrosse team fell to No. 17 nationally ranked Ithaca College in their Empire 8 Conference opener, 18-4. Reigning Empire 8 Player of the Week, Ashton Hogan '15, and Moorea Spoljaric '16 each had two goals for EC while Sami Risi '14 added two assists. Rookie goaltender Lindsay Wargo '17 played nearly 32 minutes in net, making a season-high 10 saves on a .556 save percentage.

The Bombers applied pressure offensively from the opening draw, jumping out to a 7-0 lead in the first 14 minutes of play. Hogan got Elmira on the board with her 11th goal in the last four games, but the Bombers would respond with four unanswered goals to go up 11-1. Hogan would net her second goal of the game with 32 seconds left in the first half, but a late goal from Ithaca would put the Soaring Eagles down 12-2 at the break.

The second half was a better defensive effort from the Purple and Gold, as Elmira limited the Bombers to six goals, but EC's offense could only add two goals to their total, courtesy of Spoljaric, in the final 30 minutes of play.

The Soaring Eagles return home to continue their Empire 8 schedule this Friday, March 28th when EC hosts Hartwick College. The game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Elmira Free Academy.
