Box Score Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's lacrosse team (4-7, 1-3 E8) fell to Utica College (6-3, 2-2 E8) 12-7 on the road today.
Jessica Blinkinsop '14 and
Sami Risi '14 both led the Soaring Eagles with two assists and a goal apiece in today's action.
The Pioneers of Utica scored the first three goals of the game in the first 6:08 of play. The Purple and Gold responded with back-to-back goals scored by
Ashton Hogan '15 with
Kelsey Quail '17 and Blinkinsop both posting assists on the plays. Utica then ended the period with four straight goals to take a 7-4 lead over the Soaring Eagles.
Utica kicked off the second half with a goal 2:31 into play to up the Pioneers' lead to 8-2. The Soaring Eagles responded back with a free-position goal netted by
Moorea Spoljaric '16, 5:33 into the second half.
Marissa Mongillo '15 scored a goal off a pass from
Bridget Keefe '14 21 seconds after Blinkinsop caused a turnover and picked up the ball to start the play. Blinkinsop scored a goal of her own 5:50 into the half after receiving the ball from Risi to trail Utica, 5-8. The Pioneers then upped their lead to 9-5 with 10:38 left in regulation play. 1:11 later, EC responded when Risi tossed the ball over to Mongillo who scored her second goal of the game to trail Utica, 6-9. The Pioneers scored three straight goals, but EC would get the last goal of the game when Risi scored a goal of her own off a pass from Blinkinsop with 13 seconds left in the game.
LeAnna Presler '14 stopped 12 shots in today's action.
