Women’s Lacrosse Hits the Road for Two Empire 8 Conference Contests

Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's lacrosse team is set to travel to take on Hartwick College this Friday, March 27th at 4:00 p.m. before hitting the road for Hoboken, NJ on Saturday, March 28th to take on Stevens Institute of Technology at 12:00 p.m. Both contests are Empire 8 Conference games.

Last Time Out
The Purple and Gold are coming off a 19-4 loss to Empire 8 Conference opponent Ithaca College on Tuesday. Moorea Spoljaric '16, Marisa Carr '18, Kylie Connell '17, and Ashton Hogan '15 all scored goals while Marissa Mongillo '15 tallied two assists in the game. Lindsay Wargo '17 made seven saves in the net for the EC women.

Reinforcements
Ashton Hogan '15, Marissa Mongillo '15, Kelcey Crawford '18, Sarah Hughson '18, and Kyra McDonald '18 all competed in their first lacrosse game of the season after completing their 2014-15 ice hockey season last weekend. The 2014-15 NCAA women's ice hockey runner-ups made an immediate impact on the field against Ithaca College accounting for a combined one goal, two assists, seven draw controls, four groundballs, and two caused turnovers.

A Look at the Hawks
Hartwick College enters the weekend with a 1-3 overall record and a 0-1 mark inside the Empire 8 Conference. Emily Jweid and Lauren Rosenberg lead the Hawks offensively with 13 and 11 points, respectively, while Steph Luce has seen the majority of the minutes in the net, posting 51 saves and a .560 save percentage.

Series History vs. Hartwick
Elmira holds the advantage in the series against the Hawks with a 9-6 record. Their most recent win came in the 2014 season, when the EC women took down Hartwick, 16-15.

A Glance at the Ducks
Stevens Tech enters the weekend with a 4-1 overall record and a 1-0 mark inside the Empire 8 Conference and is currently on a four-game winning streak. Erika Wilcox leads the Ducks offense with 25 points on 20 goals and five assists while Stephanie Schneizer is the leader between the pipes with 23 saves and a 6.39 goals against average.

Series History vs. Stevens Tech
Since the Ducks joined the Empire 8 Conference in the 2008 season, the Purple and Gold have competed against Stevens Tech every season. The Ducks have won every game, holding a 7-0 record in the series.
