Elmira, NY --
The Elmira College women's lacrosse team will return home to host the Express of Wells College on Saturday, March 19th at 12:00 p.m. at Corning Community College.

Last Time Out
The University of Rochester handed the Soaring Eagles a 13-5 loss in EC's first road contest of the season in the Flower City on Tuesday. EC scored only once in the first half and trailed 6-1 at the break. The Soaring Eagles looked as if they would make a second-half run to close the gap with three unanswered goals in a span of 2:32. That short spurt cut the Rochester lead to 12-5, but was unable to sustain the momentum long enough to threaten the Yellowjackets' lead. Attackers Moorea Spoljaric '16 and Hayley Baker '19 each scored twice to pace the EC women.

Spoljaric Extends Scoring Streak
With a pair of goals against the University of Rochester, Moorea Spoljaric '16 extended her current goal scoring streak to 19 consecutive games. The streak dates back to the final game of her sophomore season, a 13-8 win over Scranton on April 28, 2014. The senior attacker netted at least one goal in every game of her junior campaign en route to a career-high 42 goals on the season.

Strong Debut for Baker
First-year attacker Hayley Baker '19 received rave reviews from the coaching staff in the preseason and is living up to the hype. The 5-foot-9 rookie has scored twice in EC's two games so far this season. She also earned an assist in the season opener against Lycoming, bringing her point total to five through her first two games, ranking second on the team.

Disruptive Defense
The Soaring Eagles are one of four teams in the Empire 8 Conference with a double-digit average for caused turnovers per game, ranking fourth in the league with 10.50 per contest. In fact, EC has forced 10-or-more turnovers in consecutive games for the first time since April 3-4, 2015. Individually, two of the conference's top-four caused turnover leaders are Soaring Eagles. Moorea Spoljaric '16 paces the E8 with 3.00 caused turnovers per game and senior defender Laura Powell '16 is tied for third with 2.50 per game.

All-Time Series
Elmira has dominated the all-time series against Wells College, winning all six matchups between the two programs. The most recent meeting occurred in 2012, an 18-10 home win for EC. The Purple and Gold average nearly 16 goals per game against the Express, while limiting wells to just over five goals per game. Additionally, the Soaring Eagles are 2-0 in home contests against Wells.

Scouting Wells
Wells has fallen upon hard times over the past five seasons, as the Express have endured five straight losing seasons since posting a .500 mark in 2010. The Express have started the 2016 season with consecutive losses, the first a 14-12 defeat at Elms College and the latter a 15-7 loss against Empire 8 foe Houghton College at home. Elms led by as much as seven goals in the second half of the season opener, but Wells showed its resiliency with six of the last seven goals to pull within two. Houghton, however, scored the first seven goals of the game and never looked back. Freshmen Renne Bartosz and Mackenzie Maloney lead the Express with four goals and five points apiece. Sophomore keeper Quinn Doubet returns for her second season after playing the bulk of the minutes in goal for the Express in her debut season. Doubet has posted a 14.50 goals-against average and a 19.4 save percentage in her two starts in 2016.

Up Next
