Elmira, NY -- The Elmira College women's lacrosse team puts its two-game winning streak on the line when it continues its non-conference road swing at Keuka College on Wednesday afternoon. Opening draw for the tilt is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Keuka's Jephson Athletics Complex.

Last Time Out
The Elmira women put together its most complete performance of the season in a 16-5 victory over New England College in their last contest this past Sunday. After an evenly played opening 10 minutes, the Soaring Eagles put together a four-goal barrage over a 3:10 span midway through the first half, riding the margin to an 8-4 lead at halftime. EC dominated the second session, outscoring the Pilgrims 8-to-1 over the final 30 minutes, en route to the win. Moorea Spoljaric '16 netted four goals and added two assists, while Hayley Baker '19 also found the back of the net four times as part of a five-point effort. Seven other Elmira players collected points, led by Kyra McDonald '18 (2g), Kylie Connell '17 (2g), and Sarah Hughson '18 (2g-1a). Although relatively untested for much of the game, Lindsay Wargo '17 improved her record to 2-0 this season with a three-save effort.

Wargo Named Empire 8 Goaltender of the Week
It was a long wait to begin the season for Elmira's third-year netminder Lindsay Wargo '17, as she missed the team's first four contests due to illness. The Madison, CT, native made her season debut on March 26th, when she made a relief appearance in Elmira's 16-8 loss to Utica. However, the Soaring Eagles fortunes seem to have turned with Wargo between the pipes. She stopped 11 shots in Elmira's 11-8 win over Houghton College, while she made three saves in the 16-5 win over New England College, her first two starts of 2016. Wargo was named Empire 8 Goaltender of the Week for her efforts on Monday afternoon.

Spoljaric Rises Up the Charts
Do it all senior standout Moorea Spoljaric '16 has been the engine that has powered Elmira in all phases of the game this season. She continued her assault on the all-time scoring charts with another scintillating week of action in Elmira's two victories over Houghton and New England. The Saugerties, NY, native had her hand in the first eight Elmira goals, finishing with six goals and two assists, in EC's 11-8 win over the Highlanders. She added four goals and two more helpers in the lopsided victory over the Pilgrims. Her 4.71 goals-per-game average is the top mark in the Empire 8, while her 33 goals are tied for second-most in the conference. With the four-goal effort against New England, she moved ahead of Lindsay Mitchell '12 into second place on the program's all-time list with 151 career goals. Spoljaric's 179 career points are nine short of tying Mitchell for second on the all-time points list.

Strong Rookie Campaign for Baker
While Spoljaric has done the heavy lifting on the attacking end for EC, the team has gotten excellent production from first-year Hayley Baker '19. She ranks second on the team with 18 points on 13 goals and five assists. After being held off the score sheet in the win over Houghton, she set a new career high with four goals, while she also added an assist, against New England. The Soaring Eagles will need to keep receiving contributions from secondary sources, as EC looks to bolster the scoring depth.

All-Time Series
Elmira has met Keuka College twice dating back through the 2002 season. The two contests occurred in back-to-back years in 2009 and 2010. EC went 2-0 in those contests, dispatching the Wolfpack 14-7 in the first matchup and 17-9 the following season.

Scouting Keuka
The Wolfpack have gotten off to a bit of a slow start to the 2016 campaign, entering Wednesday with a 2-4. Keuka opened its North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) slate in its latest contest, falling to Cazenovia College 8-6 at the Jephson Athletics Complex. The loss was the Wolfpack's first in regular season conference play in over four years dating back to the final game of the 2012 season, a span of 27 games. Junior attacker Sydney Forshay paces the team in scoring with 23 points on 18 goals and five assists. Freshman midfielder Kendall Neuberger (14g-1a) and junior mid Maura Gosson (10g-4a) have provided the complimentary scoring with 15 points and 14 points, respectively. Freshman netminder Alyna Thayer has played every minute in the Wolfpack cage this season, posting 41 saves and an 11.33 goals against average.

Looking Ahead
The Elmira women return to action on Saturday, April 9th, when they jump back into Empire 8 Conference play against Hartwick College. The contest is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at Campus Field, but time and location are subject to change depending on the weather.
