ELMIRA, N.Y. -- The Elmira College women's lacrosse team has a non-conference showdown against Lycoming College on Saturday, March 17, at nearby Ernie Davis Academy. The opening draw control for the bout is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Soaring Eagles ended their back-to-back weekend with a non-conference loss to the Lakers of Oswego State by a 24-1 final score. The Lakers netted the first 11 goals of the game and led at halftime 16-1. The lone goal registered by the Purple and Gold was scored by second-year forward Rachael Goetz '20 at the 12:50 mark of the first half. The Lake View, New York, native buried a free-position shot for the third goal of her sophomore campaign. Oswego State ended the contest with significant advantages in shots on goal (30-to-11), draw controls (18-to-9) and ground balls (14-to-5). For EC, Kyra McDonald '18 logged a team-leading four draw controls, while Goetz added three draw controls to her goal. Goalies Kacie Pierce '21 and Payton Rusin '18 each played one half in the cage, led by Pierce with four saves in 30 minutes of action.

GODDARD'S GROWTH
Danielle Goddard '20 was a late-season addition to the Elmira roster as a freshman in 2017. Although she appeared in only three games last year, the Bethel, Connecticut, native has quickly proven to be a crucial cog in the EC offense. After logging three points (2g-1a) in the season-opener against SUNY New Paltz on March 3, Goddard began last weekend with her first career hat trick against Keuka College on March 10.  Through the first three games of the 2018 campaign, the second-year attacker has posted five goals and one assist for six points. She ranks second on the team in goals and is tied for second in points, in addition to tying for the team lead with seven ground balls.

BAKER CLIMBS THE CHARTS
Hayley Baker '19 was one of EC's top offensive weapons in her first two seasons, and 2018 is no different. She leads the team in points (9) and goals (7), and with 88 career points through the first 32 games of her collegiate career, the 5-foot-9-inch attacker needs just two more to move into a tie for 10th place in program history. Baker has also climbed to 9th all-time in career assists (28) by adding two more to her resume this year.

SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's tilt will mark the 10th all-time meeting between Elmira and Lycoming, a series in which the Warriors own a 7-2 advantage. The two teams have played annually for the past four seasons, with Lycoming besting EC in three consecutive contests. Elmira's most recent triumph over the Warriors came on March 8, 2014, by 11-9 final score in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

SCOUTING LYCOMING
The Warriors are 2-2 overall to start the new season, as they won their first two games, before falling in their last two bouts. The most recent game was a 23-19 setback to Framingham State on Thursday in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The duo of Kelly McGinniss (20) and Jordan Lazarich (19) has been critical to Lycoming's offensive success this season, as they have combined for 39 the Warriors' 64 goals this season. In goal, both Ayana Hagan and Bailey Parchesky have each earned one win this season.

LOOKING AHEAD
Elmira will head to Buffalo State on Monday, March 19, to play a rescheduled contest against the Bengals. The tilt is slated to take place at Coyer Field at 6:00 p.m.
