deMelo posted a 2-0-1 record for the men's ice hockey team this week, picking up wins over SUNY Potsdam and Salve Regina University and posting a tie against No. 5 Oswego State. In nearly 161 minutes between the pipes, deMelo allowed four goals, recorded 94 saves, posted a goals against average of 1.49 and a save percentage of .959.
 
deMelo began his week by making 40 stops, 33 of which came in the first two periods, in a 5-2 win over SUNY Potsdam. He got the call again Friday night as the Soaring Eagles hosted No. 5 Oswego State. deMelo had a strong performance between the pipes limiting the nation's third-best scoring offense to just two goals in an overtime tie. Then, on Saturday against Salve Regina, deMelo was called in to relieve Sal Magliocco '17 just four minutes into the second period with the Purple and Gold trailing 3-1. He did not allow the Seahawks to score another goal for the remainder of the night as EC rallied to defeat Salve Regina, 4-3.
 
The men's ice hockey team resumes their ECAC West schedule this weekend with a pair of home games against Manhattanville College. The first game is on Friday, January 23rd at 7:00 p.m.
