Carlin and the softball team finally opened their 2015 season last week with a doubleheader at Alfred State College, sweeping the Pioneers with 5-3 and 8-3 wins. Carlin was a major factor in the victories as she hit .500, going 3-for-6, and pitched three innings to earn the win in the second game of the doubleheader.
 
Carlin's 2015 season got off to a good start almost immediately as she drove in EC's first run of the year with a single in the first inning of game one. Overall, the sophomore went 2-for-3 with two RBI in the first game of the day. Carlin did it all for the Soaring Eagles in game two as she drove in three runs and also pitched three innings in relief to pick up the victory. Two of her three RBI were the result of her first home run of the year which came during a four-run sixth inning. Additionally, Carlin made her first appearance in the pitcher's circle since February 18, 2014. She came on in relief ofKatie McDougal '18 in the fifth inning and was lights out, giving up just two hits and striking out three batters in 3.0 innings.
 
Carlin and the softball team had their Empire 8 opener postponed last Saturday, but the Soaring Eagles will hope to begin their conference slate on Saturday, April 11th when they travel to take on Nazareth College in a doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
