Austin Mansell '16 backstopped the Soaring Eagles to a 1-1 double-overtime tie against the Stevens Institute of Technology, the reigning Empire 8 Conference champions. The West Lebanon, NH, native recorded seven saves – tying his season-best in his third start of 2015 – while registering a season-high .875 save percentage.

The EC goalkeeper made five of his seven saves in the second half, as the Ducks outshot the Soaring Eagles 12-to-7 in the frame to preserve the tie. Mansell added his final save with only 21 ticks left on the clock in the second overtime period.

Making the tie more remarkable was the fact that the Purple and Gold played the final 22:49 with only 10 men on the field. It also marked the first time Stevens has not opened Empire 8 play with a victory, ending EC’s stretch of consecutive losses to the Ducks.

The Elmira men’s soccer team will continue its four-game homestand at Campus Field on Tuesday, September 22nd, when it hosts Alfred State at 4:00 p.m.
