Megan Fitzgerald '18 helped the women's tennis team complete a 9-0 sweep over the Pennsylvania College of Technology in the season opener at the Murray Athletic Center on September 3rd. At second singles, the Thomaston, Connecticut, native was flawless, as she picked up a decisive 6-0, 6-0 straight-sets win over Morgan Blackwell. At first doubles, Fitzgerald teamed up with Tilila El Yazidi '20 to knock off Blackwell and teammate Melissa Stabley by a score of 8-2.

For the reigning Empire 8 All-Conference Honorable Mention singles and doubles player, the victories were the 35th and 36th of her career. Fitzgerald is now one singles win shy of moving into a four-way tie for seventh-place all-time, while her triumph at doubles with El Yazidi bumped her into a two-way tie with Bri Palmiero '12 for ninth with 18 wins.

The EC women's tennis team opens conference play with a pair of road matches this week. The Soaring Eagles visit Houghton College on Wednesday, September 7th, followed by a Friday match at Utica College on September 9th.
