Katie Granato '19 and the No. 2/2-ranked Elmira women's ice hockey team improved to 9-0-0 overall and 6-0-0 inside United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) play with a series sweep of Chatham on the road Friday and Saturday. The Soaring Eagles outscored the Cougars by a combined 16-3, including an 11-2 drubbing in the weekend finale on December 2.

The product of Naperville, Illinois, helped fuel the high-octane offense with a team-high-tying six points on a team-best four goals and two assists. Granato earned a point on each of Elmira's three power-play goals over the weekend, including the primary assist on an extra-attacker goal scored by Louisa Lippiatt Durnell '18 in a 5-1 series-opening win on Friday. The following afternoon, the 5-foot-9-inch junior forward pieced together the best game of her collegiate career with career highs in both points (5) and goals (4). Two of her four tallies came on the power play, including her hat-trick goal at the 3:12 mark of the second period. Her fourth and final goal extended the EC lead to 8-0 a little over four minutes later, while Granato also dished out one helper in the third period.

Following her dominate performance on Saturday, Granato is tied for fourth in the nation in goals per game (1.11) and is in a two-way tie for seventh in points per game (1.89). Among UCHC leaders, she ranks second in power-play points (3g-5a-8p), just one shy of teammate Sarah Hughson '18.

Granato and the No. 2/2 Soaring Eagles will return to action on Saturday and Sunday, December 9 and 10, when Elmira hosts the reigning NESCAC champion, the Amherst Mammoths. The non-conference series will begin with a 7:00 p.m. puck drop on Saturday and concludes on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Murray Athletic Center.
