Matilda Kennedy-Butler '19 turned in the finest performance of her career to kick off her fourth season with the EC field hockey team. In the season-opener on Friday evening, the fourth-year forward from Bel Air, Maryland, registered a hat trick to lead to the Soaring Eagles to a 4-1 victory over King's College (Pa.) at the Murray Athletic Center. Her initial goal in the seventh minute marked the first of her collegiate career, and she went on to score the first hat trick in a season-opening game by a Soaring Eagle since 2005.
The Purple and Gold will conclude their three-game homestand on Wednesday, September 5, when the Soaring Eagles welcome Oswego State to the Murray Athletic Center. The non-conference contest is slated for a 4:00 p.m. start.
