On the ice, Matthew Cuce '20 logged two points apiece in wins over SUNY Geneseo (4-2) and Chatham (7-2) at the Murray Athletic Center. Against the Knights, ranked No. 2 in the U.S. College Hockey Online (USCHO) national poll, the fourth-year forward from Fort Myers, Florida, posted the eventual game-winning goal, which gave EC a 3-0 lead in the opening period, before dishing out a helper on the team's fourth goal in the second period. He followed up the upset victory by potting a season-high two power-play goals, as the Soaring Eagles overcame a 2-1 deficit with six unanswered goals versus Chatham.
Cuce continues to rank among the top point producers in all of Division III. Through 15 games, he's 13th in points per game (1.47), seventh in goals per game (0.87), and fifth with seven power-play tallies.
United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) action resumes for Cuce and the EC men's ice hockey team on Friday, January 24, against King's (Pa.) and Saturday, January 25, against Wilkes. Both bouts begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Murray Athletic Center.Â
