From the women's tennis team, Katy Jewett '21 was recognized for her continuing her strong play in a pair of matches against Hartwick and SUNY Oneonta last week. The second-year netter from Upper Nyack, New York, went a combined 3-1 overall and 2-0 in singles. Her two singles wins extended her streak to five consecutive victories to start the 2018-19 season.
In Empire 8 Conference action versus the Hawks, Jewett teamed up with Cassie Brown '21 for an exciting 8-6 victory over Hartwick's No. 1 doubles tandem. She then went on to solidify a straight-set win at fifth singles. Against the unbeaten Red Dragons of SUNY Oneonta, Jewett was a 2-6, 6-2 (11-9) victor at No. 4 singles, the highest she's played in the lineup in her two-year career as a Soaring Eagle.
Jewett and the Soaring Eagles will continue to play on the road this week with a pair of E8 matches at Houghton College on Wednesday, September 26, and at Utica College on Saturday, September 29.
