Already a two-time E8 Defensive Player of the Week honoree, Tina O'Donnell '20 added to an already impressive junior campaign by climbing a pair of single-season charts last week. By earning her sixth win against Keuka College on October 16, the Kutztown, Pennsylvania, native moved into a tie for fourth place in wins, becoming the first EC goalie to earn six wins in a season since Ann Phillips '07 in 2005. She's also tied for third in single-season saves with 189, equaling a mark set by the program's all-time saves leader, Jalene McCulloch '10, during her sophomore year in 2007.
In a 2-1 victory over the Wolves, O'Donnell made five saves in 90 minutes of regulation and overtime. She then helped deny Keuka on three of its four shootout attempts, as the Soaring Eagles earned the victory with a 3-1 triumph in the shootout. O'Donnell then stopped 19 shots on the road against Utica on Saturday, before making another 18 in a neutral-site game versus Stevens.
Nationally, O'Donnell ranks third in Division III in total saves and fifth in saves per game (12.60), while leading all goalies in the Empire 8 in both categories.
O'Donnell and the Elmira field hockey team return to the Murray Athletic Center on Wednesday, October 24, when the Purple and Gold take on Houghton College at 3:30 p.m.
