Adam Nichols '20 and the EC men's soccer team kicked off the 2019 campaign unbeaten with a win and a draw on Campus Field, marking team's best start since 2013. The senior from Candor, New York, picked up where he left off in 2018, as Elmira's leading scorer from a year ago posted three points in Friday afternoon's 2-0 triumph over Alfred State. In the 22nd minute against the Pioneers, Nichols deposited his first goal of the season off of a set piece. Slicing through traffic on the restart, he outpaced several defenders through the right side of the box and beat the Alfred State goalie near-side. In the 25th minute, Nichols dished out an assist to Donovan Sewell '23, centering the ball to the rookie inside the six-yard box for a wide-open look.
The Elmira men's soccer team will look to extend its unbeaten streak on Wednesday, September 4, in a road match against Hilbert. The Soaring Eagles and Hawks will kick-off at 4:00 p.m. in Hamburg, New York.
